10-03-1944 - Major Kinney


“Major Kinney, the executive officer of the 904th Field Artillery Battalion, was killed in action. Kinney was a very close friend since we joined the 79th Division on activation. We were Captains and Battery Commanders at the same time… part of the cadre of the Artillery.”

On this day in World War II:

The first Me262 jet fighter becomes operational. A total of 40 are deployed at a base near Osnabruck.

Soviet forces seize the Hiiuma Island off the coast of Estonia.
